This year’s state budget includes $108.9 million in school security grants, providing an average of $41,000 per K–12 school to support compliance efforts like mapping, panic alert systems, and safety planning.
In addition, the amended 2026 budget proposes another $50 million for school safety initiatives, which would bring an extra $21,000 per school on average.
Schools can also tap into federal grants to expand their safety infrastructure and fill in any funding gaps.
